Lillian's Treasure is a custom green tea blend, crafted in conjunction with the
Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute . The tea features pear flavors, apple pieces and safflower petals. A percentage of all bulk tea purchases will be donated directly back to the Burnham Institute to further research in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
The Story of Lillian's Treasure...Over 30 years ago, Dr. William Fishman, a biochemist and cancer researcher at the peak of his career, faced age-mandated retirement from a prominent university in the Northeast.
The scientific community of La Jolla welcomed Dr. Fishman and his wife, longtime research partner, Lillian Waterman Fishman, with open arms. Together they established the La Jolla Cancer Center, now the Sanford-Burnham Institute for Medical Research, a non-profit research organization on the Torrey Pines Mesa.
Among many cutting-edge discoveries, Burnham scientists have found anti-cancer agents in green and black teas. Lillian's Treasure was named in honor of Lillian Fishman. At 92 years, Lillian continues to shine as a guiding light for the Institute.
